Working Holiday Maker Tax Calculator
Working Holiday Maker (WHM) tax in Australia starts at 15% from dollar one. There's no tax-free threshold and no LITO. The WHM schedule is: 15% to $45,000, 30% to $135,000, 37% to $190,000, 45% above. Medicare levy and MLS don't apply unless you become a tax resident. To use AgoTax for WHM tax, change the category dropdown above to "Working Holiday Maker" and the brackets, levy rules, and offsets all switch automatically. The result includes super (your employer pays SG even for WHM workers).

Frequently asked
Am I a working holiday maker for tax purposes?
If you're on a 417 or 462 visa for at least part of the income year, the WHM rates apply to income earned during that period. Periods on a different visa are taxed under that visa's category.
Do I get any of my tax back?
Possibly — if you become a tax resident, some WHM-period tax can be reduced via the resident schedule on your return. The 2021 Addy v. Commissioner case opened this for residents from non-discrimination treaty countries; it's complex and worth seeing an accountant.
Do WHMs pay HECS?
Only if you have an existing HELP/HECS debt. New non-resident loans don't accrue while you're a WHM.
